Stage 2A (IIA): Cancer Of The Breast is Stage 2A if either of those criteria are met:

  • there aren’t any cancer cells within the lymph nodes, cancer has not spread with other areas of the body and also the tumor is under 5 cm wide.
  • the tumor within the breast is under 2cm wide, cancer has not spread with other areas of the body and then any cancer cells within the lymph nodes haven’t glued together.
  • the tumor is much more than 5cm wide, cancer hasn’t spread elsewhere even though the lymph nodes could have cancer cells that have glued together.

    • the lymph nodes contain scattered cancer cells that have not glued developing tumors, cancer hasn’t spread round the body & any tumor inside the breast is under 5 cm.
